Product Description
EA-PSBE 10080-340 3U 10kW Programmable Bidirectional DC Power Supply
The EA-PSBE 10080-340 3U is a 10kW programmable bidirectional DC power supply from the EA Elektro-Automatik PSBE 10000 series, engineered for demanding applications requiring two-quadrant operation with regenerative energy recovery. This bidirectional power supply integrates the capabilities of a programmable DC power supply and a regenerative electronic load, seamlessly sourcing and sinking power while feeding energy back to the grid with up to 94.5% efficiency in load mode—significantly reducing energy costs, minimizing heat generation, and lowering air conditioning requirements. Featuring an autoranging output stage, it delivers a wide operating envelope: 0-80V voltage, 0-340A current, and 10000W power, maintaining full output across an extensive voltage-current curve. Key technical specifications include ultra-low ripple of ≤10mV rms (300kHz BW) and ≤100mV p-p (20MHz BW), fast transient response (CV rise/fall ≤20ms, CC ≤10ms), and high measurement accuracy (0.05% FS voltage, 0.1% FS current). The unit incorporates digital control with 16-bit ADCs/DACs and three selectable control speeds (Normal, Fast, Slow) to optimize loop compatibility with devices under test such as on-board chargers. Built-in galvanically isolated interfaces include USB, Ethernet, a 15-pin analog interface (0-5V/0-10V programmable for U/I/P/R), and a USB host for data logging. For scalable system integration, the Master-Slave-Bus and Share-Bus enable parallel connection of up to 64 units (same voltage class) across the PSBE 10000 series, achieving system powers up to 1920kW and currents up to 64000A. Typical applications span battery test equipment (cells, modules, packs), battery simulators, fuel cell test systems, on-board charger (OBC) testing, EOL (End of Line) testing, State of Health (SOH) checks for battery recycling applications, and automated test systems—leveraging energy recovery to decrease investment and operational costs. The unit operates from a wide-range 3-phase AC input (208-480V ±10%) with active PFC >0.99, and includes comprehensive protective features (OVP, OCP, OPP, OTP) for reliable operation in laboratory and industrial environments.
Key Features
- Bidirectional & Regenerative Operation: Functions as both a programmable DC power supply and a regenerative electronic load (two-quadrant), sinking power and feeding energy back to the grid with up to 94.5% efficiency—reducing energy costs, minimizing heat generation, and lowering air conditioning requirements.
- High-Power Autoranging Output: Provides a flexible 0-80V voltage and 0-340A current envelope at 10kW full power, enabling a single unit to replace multiple traditional supplies in battery test equipment, fuel cell test systems, and automated test systems.
- Precision & Low-Noise Performance: Delivers clean power with ≤10mV rms ripple (300kHz BW) and ≤100mV p-p noise (20MHz BW), combined with 0.05% voltage and 0.1% current display accuracy for reliable measurements in EOL testing and SOH checks.
- Fast Dynamic Response: Achieves CV rise/fall times ≤20ms and CC ≤10ms, with selectable control speeds (Normal, Fast, Slow) to match the loop characteristics of devices under test such as on-board chargers.
- Comprehensive Connectivity: Includes built-in galvanically isolated USB, Ethernet, and analog interfaces (0-5V/0-10V programmable for U/I/P/R), plus USB host for data logging. Optional fieldbus interfaces (CAN, CANopen, RS232, Profibus, EtherCAT, Profinet, Modbus) are available via plug-in slots.
- Scalable Parallel Systems: Equipped with Master-Slave-Bus and Share-Bus for parallel operation of up to 64 units (same voltage class), enabling system powers up to 1920kW and currents up to 64000A while maintaining single-unit control and load sharing—decreasing investment cost.
- Versatile Application Support: Ideal for battery testing, battery simulation, fuel cell test systems, on-board charger testing, battery recycling applications, EOL test, and State of Health (SOH) checks, supported by EA Power Control and EA Battery Simulator software.
